Review: Benefit Galifornia

Benefit Galifornia

I got some makeup the other day…SHOCK. BENEFIT GALIFORNIA BLUSH. TICK.

Hahah. I guess I have some sort of reputation. Anyway I bought some bits and pieces to freshen up my makeup and skincare the other day, and look what I got.  *heart eye face* BENEFIT GALIFORNIA.

Benefit Galifornia

I literally can’t stop looking at it.

So this is the latest blush from Benefit cosmetics and it’s a beauty. I feel like Benefit haven’t really made a massive deal out of it due to the fact that they are a massive brow brand now and their blushes/bronzers have taken a bit of a backseat. But, I mean, just looking at the packaging alone sets Benefit Galifornia off on a good foot!

This blush is a light pink/peachy/corally colour with a gold shimmer to it. When you first open it, the top layer is gold, which then disappears after it’s first use…I was quite upset about that, I’m a bit of a magpie! I love the way it can compliment pretty much any skin tone, showing up subtly on fair skin tones to showing up as a nice peachy shimmer on more tanned tones. Honestly cannot wait to get a tan and try this out!

The top right picture below is VERY rubbish but I put it up as you can see the gold tones quite clearly.

Can we talk about the packaging?

Oh my life. Hello California surfer girl/ 70’s inspired packaging. I love everything about this. The coral/blue colours, the gold highlights in the hair, AND the brush that comes with it is light blue with a brushed effect. So so so pretty. It also has a mirror included on the inside of the Benefit Galifornia box but this is pretty standard for Benefit box blushes.

Smell etc…

I don’t think I own any scented makeup?… No I definitely don’t, so this really surprised me when I opened the box and BOOM it smelt like summer. At first I thought it smelt like coconut, but I did some reading and turns out it’s actually pink grapefruit and vanilla ‘flavoured’. (SIDENOTE:  you can’t eat it.)

Two things I must say, however…

If you like the pigmented blushes, this may not be for you as it isn’t the most pigmented powder in the whole world BUT its build-able. I personally like build-able makeup as you can’t over do it by accident. You know, less is more and all that! Also, I’m not a massive fan of the brush, mainly because I like using a ‘less concentrated’ brush like my Real Techniques blush brush. It covers a larger area and allows you to build the product up lightly rather than in one small area.

Where can I buy Benefit Galifornia?

Okay so you can buy Galifornia pretty much anywhere – the Benefit website, Boots, Debenhams, John Lewis black black bla, for £24.50.

BUT I thought I’d let you in on a FANTASTIC website called LookFantastic (see what I did there? haha). As I mentioned before, I bought quite a few products the other day and it was so good because I bought it all in the same place with FREE NEXT DAY DELIVERY AND A FREE GIFT! I am not sponsored to mention this, but I loved my experience so much with them that I thought I would let you guys know!

If you are thinking of placing an order anytime soon for over £25.00 with this code, you can get £5 off!

(alternatively you can click this link which will take you straight there)

Look Fantastic

Let me know what you think! In the meantime, I’m sure I will be posting makeup pictures and tutorials in the future with this beauty on my face! Bye for now! x

Look at my review of Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation – the perfect base for this blush!

Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this site. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s hard to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and visual appearance. I must say you’ve done a awesome job with this. Also, the blog loads super quick for me on Opera. Excellent Blog!

I’m really enjoying the design and layout of your website. It’s a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more enjoyable for me to come here and visit more often. Did you hire out a designer to create your theme? Exceptional work!
