Time to review the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation!
Hello lovelies! I have another confession. I should really stop with these confessions at the beginning of my posts! – before I continue with a review of Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation… This post was supposed to be a youtube video but I faffed too much with the editing and now I hate the video…classic. Next time!!
Ok, so basically my skin is terrible at the moment. This is thanks to hormones so I thought I’d change my foundation to something a bit more substantial! I am in no way ‘dissing’ my Bourjois Healthy Mix, by the way, it’s great – I just needed a change. I posted on Instagram to find out what foundations you were all loving and Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation popped up… (thank you @rachieface – check her Insta out by the way, she’s awesome!)
I have never tried her products out, but I remember sitting in uni lectures a couple of years ago and that was all my friend would bang on about – how good the stuff was! (ey Gabs!) so I decided to take the plunge!
Where can I buy it?!
I don’t have any Charlotte Tilbury stores near me so I bought it off of www.feelunique.com and boy was I surprised. First of all, I had no clue what shade I needed to get, so thanks to the online chat, I spoke to someone (I can’t remember her name). She asked me what foundation I currently use and the colour and she then suggested a colour to me. After looking at some swatches of that colour I realised that the person from FeelUnique was probably right, so I ordered it.
NOW, you cannot return opened makeup to stores as that is a policy they have due to hygiene etc. This is obviously scary when you’re ordering a foundation you have NEVER tried before, however, the good thing about this is that it came with a free sample of the same shade, so that you can try the colour before opening the bottle… GENIUS!!!!! For me, FeelUnique gained so many brownie points because of this!
Anyway, buying story aside, the colour was a pretty perfect match (shade 3.5 – I’m pale during the winter/spring) and the foundation… WOW. It is £29.50 from FeelUnique, a little pricey, but I’m not complaining…
Firstly, the packaging. Light pink and Rose Gold… what?! Do I need to say anymore?! This has NICOLE written all over it!! The box is super pretty and informative and suggests ways to apply it and what’s in it. Great. The bottle itself is frosted glass with a pump applicator, everyone loves that, AND A ROSE GOLD LID. So far so good, the whole look of the product is beautiful, setting high expectations for the product.
The Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation is amazing. Not going to lie, I thought it was going be hard to top Bourjois because they pretty much nailed it. I have quite dry skin so I thought this would be quite drying but the formula is so silky and demi matte. It doesn’t look flat like a matte foundation would, but it also doesn’t make you look shiny, it’s a good mix of both.
The product is said to be high coverage, but I would have to disagree and say it’s more of a medium coverage. However, it can be built up by layering. I use a beauty blender to apply my foundation and it blends so well, it doesn’t feel like I have anything on my face and the staying power is SO good. I don’t get any lift or smudging by the end of the day and it all stays in place like it should – this could also be because I use a primer underneath!
I genuinely don’t think I have anything bad to say about this product. I would really recommend it to anyone. It minimises my pores and gives me a flawless look without too much effort and without feeling like I have a high coverage product on my face. It is also SPF15 so it protects your skin as well! Bonus!
If you have ever tried this, let me know your thoughts on it, and if you haven’t… GO TRY IT OUT! I am now curious to try out more Charlotte Tilbury makeup, so FeelUnique… be prepared! haha.
